The last time I felt like this after seeing a movie was when I saw "Inception" on opening night. I realized I was seeming something that was different, creative, and classic.
Cloud Atlas is an amazing piece of film. Even the harshest of critics cannot say that this film is not ambitious. But I think that 99% of the people that see this film will appreciate it. I'm NOT one who tends to like films that are overly "artistic" (I hated "Tree of Life", for example). But while the overall message of the film is hard to put into words, it is easy to understand. The film is very watchable, and the nearly 3 hour length seems to fly by. The stories are sharply written, and for those who are afraid of getting "lost" while viewing, no worries ... you'll enjoy seeing clues that link the stories, but even if you miss the clues you still will see a story that is well explained and easier to consume than an experimental art film.

'SILENT HILL: REVELATION 3D': Four Stars (Out of Five)

3D sequel to the 2006 horror film based on the popular survival horror video game of the same name. It was written and directed by Michael J. Bassett and is based on the 'Silent Hill 3' video game. The film centers on the heroine's daughter from the first film, Sharon, who's now a young teen and lives with her father while constantly on the run from a ruthless cult. The cult wants Sharon back in the nightmarish alternate dimension world of 'Silent Hill', where her mother is still trapped. Radha Mitchell, who starred in the first film, only has a cameo in this chapter. Sean Bean and Deborah Kara Unger also reprise their roles from the first movie. They're joined by Adelaide Clemens, Kit Harington, Carrie-Ann Moss, Martin Donovan and Malcolm McDowell. Horror fans are sure to be pleased with this installment as well as fans of the video games (I've heard). I haven't played the games but being just a fan of artistic imaginative horror I thought it was quite an achievement.Heather (Clemens) is now turning 18 and after being on the run with her father, Harry (Bean), for many years he goes missing. She's never fully understood who she is and why her father and her have been running from town to town. She doesn't remember 'Silent Hill' but has been tortured by nightmares of it for years. She soon discovers that the people of the alternate dimension town want her back. Her mom (Mitchell) has been captive there for years and now her father is as well. A young man named Vincent (Harington) who grew up in 'Silent Hill' has been sent to our world to help bring Heather back. Vincent is not a bad guy of course though and sees Heather's true beauty, so the two join forces in surviving 'Silent Hill' and unraveling it's mysteries.The film is like a true nightmare and is played out in beautifully grotesque elaborate detail; the set design, effects and 3D are all spectacular. It looks horrendous and really has that nightmarish feel to it. I'd put it up there with the classic slasher films of the 80s like the 'A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET' and 'HELLRAISER' franchises. It's every bit as creative and grotesque. The acting is all decent and the directing is fitting. The story is a little too rushed and fast paced but I've read it's really faithful to the video games and gives the fans just what they want to see. I know nothing about the games but I did like the original 'SILENT HILL' movie and would put this second installment right up there with it. It's a classic B slasher film done right.

Fun Size is a great comedy for anyone over the age of 10. It delivers good laughs, a few sentimental moments, and a great main character who displays good moral judgement and is intelligent, she is played by Victoria Justice. The supporting characters are engaging as well, especially the little brother. Most of the characters are believable in the choices and actions that they make. The humor can be a little gross at times but it never crosses into the crass. The movie is not too long so it can keep viewers engaged throughout. I went with two preteens and they absolutely loved the movie and all three of us were laughing out loud throughout. I am usually not interested in watching a movie more than once, but I would not mind seeing this again. As soon as it is out on Blu Ray it will be added to our home movie collection.

Very tempting casting with veterans like Jeremy Irons, Dennis Quaids. The film will be in town on 13 Sept and my support for it for sure. And so, judging solely from the trailer, it reminds me of a 2009 German project: My Words, My Lies - My Love (Original: Lila, Lila) which is adapted from a German novel titled "Lila, Lila" by Martin Suter. It is about an old manuscript being found accidentally by a young man and he shot himself into stardom after claiming its authorship and getting it published. Later troubles come up one after another. Have Klugman and Sternthal got any inspiration from this literary work? Just that the tone of the German film is light and comic. The perception posed by "The Words" is heavy and ominous.

I can not believe how awful this movie was. The characters were so unlikable. Even the ones that we were suppose to feel sorry for. This is the first time I have ever written a comment on a site before. But my God! That was the worst!! There should be a negative number option. The main characters just come across as the most selfish immature self centered group of people. I understood this movie is sold as a black comedy, but they seemed to forget to include the comedy. Seeing characters act this way can be very amusing if done right. In fact, the humor is usually in seeing how awful they are. But these characters were just people that nailed the awful so well, that 30 minutes I just wanted to turn it off to get away from them. Since I had to give it a one, I will say the one is for the only comedy in this movie and that was the total miscast of the bride and groom. Now that was a joke.

I read about this movie in L.A. Times and then on the Chicago Tribune's website, and I wanted to make sure I supported it. From the trailer, it doesn't look like the typical black film full of stereotypes and a plot that leaves much to be desired. I've been a Blair Underwood fan since I was a kid and think Sharon Leal is a great actress. The movie is about a married couple whose daughter is kidnapped but in order to find out who the criminal is who did it, they are forced to deal with their own deeply hidden secrets. I had my own opinions on who the kidnapper was and I was surprised I was right because I kept second-guessing myself, which is a good thing because a predictable plot is no fun. But the secrets the wife was hiding were definitely unexpected. I wasn't sold on Pam Grier playing the tough cop or her New Orleans accent ("that there" seemed like a stretch), but it was good to see her in a new film. I'll definitely buy the film when it releases and hope that Hollywood will let it show up in more theaters.

The film is advertised as having "Double the D's"... What are you expecting to watch; "The Last Emperor" ?? I actually found this better than the first one (and even more importantly better than James Camerons original sequel "Piranha 2: Flying Killers"). 3DD is quicker paced,more tackier and fun to watch. 3DD also delivers heaps of bouncing boobs and really thats what the 14 year old boys who go to see this want to see. Like honestly how serious can you take a movie with lines like: "Josh cut off his penis because something came out of my vagina!!" My one complaint would have to be the running time. It felt like it was over in an hour. Like honestly we have to pay extra to see a 3D movie.

This absorbing film, set in Montreal, ties together two tragedies and by such a linkage shows our capacity for human understanding and emotional empathy. While that may sound excessively depressing to some readers, I found a semblance of hope in this film as the characters, both young and old, try to move on with their lives and cope as best they can, and while the trauma may be a permanent part of their psyches, their seeming resilience conveys a kind of worldly maturity and acceptance.

The film opens with two school children discovering a favorite, but troubled, teacher who has hung herself in her classroom while her students are at recess. Psychologists are brought in to help the students cope with the emotional intensity of such a tragedy, and then later a Mr. Bachir Lazhar, an Algerian immigrant, presents himself to the principal as a suitable replacement for the suicide victim's class telling her how he's followed the school's trauma in the newspapers and he's available to help. Does he need the work (we find out his legal status is uncertain and he's in danger of being deported) or is some unconscious empathetic force driving him toward working with these students since he seems to understand their pain? The school authorities prefer to move on from the tragic event while Mr. Lazhar can sense after a number of months that some of his students are dwelling on their former teacher's act and her reasons for doing so; he encourages them to talk in class about their feelings and for this he is rebuked. We eventually discover the horrific tragedy surrounding his own family and why he's fled to Canada, and from this we can understand and appreciate his empathy for his students and his understanding of their emotional plight ("why did she do it in her own classroom during school?"). The film has many touching moments as this strange Algerian immigrant explains the "unexplainable" to his students and they in turn seem to provide him with an emotional outlet, and a purpose, to counter his own suffering.

Some reviewers have questioned the film's seeming lack of total emotional resolution, but life can be open-ended. Will these children completely heal (as much as they can) and will Mr. Lazhar's half-year encounter with these kindred souls give him the emotional basis for sustaining a meaningful life in a foreign environment? We don't really know, but some of the signs that the film depicts seem to be favorable. A very worthy film from Canada!

This is a movie you are very likely to forget, a week after you have seen it. I wouldn't exactly call it one of the worst genre movies ever made but it still is one that is lacking a whole bunch of things.

The way the horror and whole mystery of the movie gets presented is disappointing, to say the very least about it. It's lacking a good buildup and the movie does a poor job at explaining everything and to let stuff make sense. Really, when looking back at this movie, nothing really makes enough sense, which only adds to the redundant impression that the overall movie is making.

You can't even really this a horror but I also don't think that this was the approach they were heading for. They went for a more quiet and humble approach, which was supposed to add to the movie its mystery. But the story just isn't ever interesting or original enough to carry the movie through. As a viewer you will already figure things out before the characters in this movie will, which is always an annoying aspect about genre movies, such as this one.

Another big reason why the movie just doesn't ever work out is its pacing. The movie really has some bad editing in it and at times it even feels like scenes are completely missing. Things often happen too fast ever each other and there just isn't ever a natural flow to any of it. It feels almost as if this movie got shot in a hurry and got put together in a couple of days, in the editing room. It does feel a bit like an incomplete movie.

Thing that I did like about it was the fact that it featured an all girl cast. It's set at a boarding school for girls. It gives the movie already a special sort of atmosphere and the way the girls interact with each other feels genuine. I'm also confident about it that women will like this movie better than men, since some of its themes should be recognizable to most.

It still is a movie you simply shouldn't bother with. It's not exciting, it's not mysterious, it's not surprising, not scary, not particularly pleasant. It basically has far too little to offer to anyone.]

I did not really sync with this movie until Boyd stopped his bus to carry on a wounded vet who was in a wheel chair. He carried him over his back. The faces in the bus were all blank and without expression, you would think risking your life for your country was worth at least some feeling. I can remember growing up in Canada in the 50s, everyone had a stiff upper lip, very few ever talked about WWII. My uncle least of all, until his son, a fireman, was killed saving a man from a burning apartment. Suddenly his days on Malta during the German blitz came back. The movie captured the chill of post WWII and the bleak Victorian like atmosphere in Toronto. The scenes from the Don Jail were totally Gothic, even now the mention of the jail sends shivers down your spine. Nowadays, our wars are fought without declaration, our soldiers are sent to places where they don't even know who the enemy is. We expect that our society will be protected by superheros. The truth is that ordinary people fight for our freedom without fanfare, and unfortunately often with no support when they come home. This movie was a perfect description of this.

I regret going to see this movie. Says it all. I was dragged along to it by an overly excited friend who wanted to see it. I couldn't of despised this movie more if I tried. The only difficulty about this now is trying to reach the minimum requirements for the length of this review.

Right, so I expect people seem like they know what to expect with this movie. Otherwise, why go see it. Miley plays nothing more than how she does on her TV series. A ditsy girl with poor use of English. Which isn't surprising.

If I had to recommend this to someone, it would be those under 11 years of age.

One good thing about the experience of seeing this.. "movie" was that I felt relief when it was over.

But hey, if you want to waste some cash with minimal physical and, let's face it.. mental effort, then see this wasted reel of film. 1/10.
