Storyline : 

The inspirational true story of real life surfing phenom Jay Moriarty. When 15 year old Jay discovers that the mythic Mavericks surf break, one of the biggest waves on Earth, is not only real, but exists just miles from his Santa Cruz home, he enlists the help of local legend Frosty Hesson to train him to survive it. As Jay and Frosty embark on their quest to accomplish the impossible, they form a unique friendship that transforms both their lives, and their quest to tame Mavericks becomes about far more than surfing.

I went and saw this after reading many unfavorable reviews, and now having seen it I can't figure out all the negative attention. Granted, I may be a little biased having grown up surfing in Northern CA, paddling out at many of those spots, and looking up to the big wave chargers such as Jay, but based on entertainment value alone I thought it was great. The acting was solid, footage was incredible, and story never dragged on or lost my attention. The film portrayed a reasonably realistic vibe of Santa Cruz as a high school kid and the often not discussed elements of surfing. I thought it was great that they were able to bring in the real pioneers of Mavs and local shapers.

The only down-check was that it did feel slightly 'karate-kidish' at times and there were a few events that would be incredibly rare that all seemed to happen at opportune moments.

Perhaps this movie won't appeal as much to many who don't have a passion for the sport or appreciate the massive undertaking of paddling out in heavy surf - but I found it very entertaining. The story may not have been 100% accurate, but the point is to pay respect to and tell the story of an extremely driven and all around good guy.

Storyline :

Bryan Mills, the former CIA man who rescued his daughter Kim from some Albanian human traffickers, is being targeted by the families of the men he killed. When he goes to Istanbul on a job, he invites Kim and her mother, Leonor, whose marriage is on the rocks to join him. When the Albanians learn of this they try to grab them. They get Bryan and Leonor, he warns Kim and she evades them. Later he calls Kim to tell her to go to the Embassy but she insists that he let her help them. Bryan tells her to get his case which is filled with weapons and with that, she finds them and gives him a weapon. He escapes and plans to come back for Leonor but they are too many and is unable to save Leonor. So he relies on his memory to find her.

When a movie takes places in Muslim country, we get used to hear azan, see mosques and women covered in black sheets in every Hoolywood film production. But what I can not understand; how the producers of Taken 2 would dare to do it in İstanbul. İstanbul is one of the most modern cities in the world and everybody knows it. I live in İstanbul and I haven't been seen any covered in black sheet woman since maybe 3 years. İstanbul has one of the most beautiful and luxury hotels, restaurants and clubs in the world. The police are not driving 30 years old cars. The streets are not crime scene. 16 millions of people are living in peace. I don't say there is no crime here but not more than Paris, London and New York.. İstanbul in not wild west.

Every movie is filming at particular places in İstanbul. 'Kapalı Çarşı', 'Eminönü Meydanı' etc. as if İstanbul has no other fancy places.

Turkey is not a poor country or closed minded like Iran. We are not ruling by religion. We have parliament and democracy. Why Luc Besson shows my country like this? Mr. Besson was here for The Fifth Element's Turkey premier. When I talk with him, he said lots of beautiful things about here. I think he forgot what he experienced here.

Liam Nesson has spent weeks in İstanbul. Turkish people showed their hospitality to him as always they do. That's why Mr.Nesson knows İstanbul more than any other foreign people. I am really curious what Mr.Nesson thinks about İstanbul in Taken 2.

Taken 2 never reflects İstanbul or the people whose live in.

I really enjoyed first one.
