Storyline :
In 1979, the American embassy in Iran was invaded by Iranian revolutionaries and several Americans are taken hostage. However, six manage to escape to the official residence of the Canadian Ambassador and the CIA is eventually ordered to get them out of the country. With few options, exfiltration expert Tony Mendez devises a daring plan: to create a phony Canadian film project looking to shoot in Iran and smuggle the Americans out as its production crew. With the help of some trusted Hollywood contacts, Mendez creates the ruse and proceeds to Iran as its associate producer. However, time is running out with the Iranian security forces closing in on the truth while both his charges and the White House have grave doubts about the operation themselves.

User Reviews :
Ben Affleck directs and stars in the newest political thriller, "Argo". It is filled with A-list actors such as Alan Arkin, John Goodman, Victor Garber, and Bryan Cranston who each contribute to this incredibly moving film, which is based on a declassified true story.

It takes place during the Iranian revolution of 1979 and 1980 in Tehran. More than sixty Americans from the US embassy were held as hostages, but six of them escaped and were hiding out in the home of the Canadian ambassador (Garber). Tony Mendez (Affleck), a CIA extraction specialist, came along to concoct a plan to rescue these six Americans.

After speaking to his son while watching a movie one night, Mendez had a creative yet genius idea. He and the escaped hostages would pretend to be the film crew of a new sci-fi movie called "Argo". With the help of Hollywood makeup artist John Chambers (Goodman) and producer Lester Siegel (Arkin), this fake crew made their story quite credible.

Ben Affleck did a spectacular job directing this film, which pretty faithfully follows such an unbelievable story. Every actor is convincing as his/her character and the cast was impeccably chosen. Make sure you stay in the theater to watch the credits. You'll see some real photographs and clips that mirror Affleck's film and actors.

"Argo" is basically only rated R for language, making it appropriate for most teens, in my opinion. I definitely recommend this film to everyone, whether you're an adult who remembers watching this on TV or you're a kid who doesn't know anything about politics. It is extremely dramatic, exciting, and heart wrenching, but also hilarious on many occasions. When the movie ends, the entire audience applauds and cheers. It's an amazing story that deserves to be heard

Liberal Arts (2012)
Liberal Arts (2012)

Genre : Drama/Romance
Director : Josh Radnor
Writer : Josh Radnor (screenplay)
Stars : Josh Radnor, Elizabeth Olsen, Zac Efron..
Country : USA
Language : English
Running Time : 97mins
MPAA Rating : Not Rated
Directed by : Josh Radnor
Starring : Josh Radnor, Richard Jenkins, John Magaro.
Storyline :
When thirty-something Jesse returns home for his father's retirement party, he falls for Zibby, a college student, and is faced with the powerful attraction that springs up between them.
User Reviews :
My expectation for this film was a romantic comedy, and it delivered on the romance, but especially on the comedy. The tone throughout was very witty, and there was a romance with New York, with music, and almost everyone. This turned out to be the second coming of age tale I happened to catch at the 2012 DIFF, fortunately this one was much more light-hearted than the first. Liberal Arts delves into the life of Jesse Fisher (Josh Radnor), who has just broken up with his girlfriend and is invited back to his old alma mater by a retiring favored professor. This gives Jesse time away from his current existence and in the process he gains some new perspective on life in general. Returning to the university has Jesse overjoyed because some of his happiest memories were during his time there and during this time he meets Zibby (Elizabeth Olsen), Nat (Zac Efron) and Dean (John Magaro). I found the dynamic between Jesse and Zibby to be fun and reenergizing, because although she is considerably younger than Jesse, she has some simple truths that she imparts on him that he needs, specifically that some things are done just because they make you happy. Zibby is like most college students, not nearly as smart as she thinks, but she brings out some things in Jesse that he had lost or forgotten. The warmth between Jesse and Zibby was only balanced out by the bleakness of aging from the perspective of Jesse's favorite instructor Judith Fairfield (Allison Janney), who had at least one more profound lesson to impart, and the professor who invited him back, Peter Hoberg (Richard Jenkins). Nat was Yoda, and that's as much as I'll say about that. Jesse really did not have a growth spurt until after he upped his acquaintance with Dean. Dean was the antithesis of Zibby, and was very convincingly in a struggle that to the outside it would seem there should be no struggle at all. The time with Jesse is what I believe made Jesse understand what it is to truly be adult about things. This film like most that are character driven was nice, funny and insightful, but for me it did not require the big screen. Yes there was an opening chase scene, but this could have been a movie of the week on the small screen. I could and possibly would watch it again, and did enjoy it so I give it an amber light.

Hello I Must Be Going (2012)

MPAA Rating : R (for language and sexual content)

Director : Todd Louiso
Writer : Sarah Koskoff
Stars : Melanie Lynskey, Christopher Abbott, Blythe Danner..
Run Time : 1 hour 35 minutes
Distributors : Oscilloscope Pictures
Production Status : In Production / Awaiting Release
Produced In : United States.
Storyline :
Circumstances force a young divorcée to move back in with her parents in suburban Connecticut, where an affair with a younger guy rejuvenates her passion for life.
User Reviews :
Hello I Must Be Going doesn't really question the morality or credibility of its central theme -- romantic relationship between a woman and a man where she is almost a couple of decades older. The film cleverly escapes the creepiness surrounding it and actually ends up being very funny. It should be attributed to screenwriter Sarah Koskoff's unabashed celebration of the positive effects that sexual human contacts have on one's spirit, and female lead Melanie Lynskey's depressed yet oddly optimistic portrayal of the 30-something divorcée. For a Sundance Lab product, which often tends to be just dark and ambiguous, this is somewhat a refreshing change of tone.
The only indie cliché this film resorts to is the background of its main characters, who are all connected to filmmaking. However, this convenient setting on the filmmakers' part is not a real problem with the film, as there is a tangible character development of a woman slowly reopening to her senses, which should easily resonate among general audiences. All in all, this is an easy-to-follow indie with no ambiguity that makes your head spin. It clearly has adult contents with a few f-bombs, but nothing too graphic, and offers a pretty relaxed and enjoyable narrative.

Can these new friends help them recover the magical balloons and get back to the cottage in time to celebrate Schluufy's surprise birthday?
User Reviews :
The Oogieloves In The Big Ballon Adventure is not only one of the worst movies i've ever seen, it's the worst children's movie i've ever seen! It's everything that's wrong with children's shows wrapped up into one movie. Having left the theater, i'm still incredibly shocked that a film this terrible got a theatrical release. First off, this is some of the laziest writing i've ever heard for a kids film. Just look at the characters names! Goobie, Zoozie, and Toofie! And if you think that's bad enough, just wait until you hear some of the supporting cast characters names. Rosalie Rosebud, Marvin Milkshake, and the worst of all is Carey Elwes character's name Bobby Wobbly. The saddest of all is Christopher Lloyds role which is just embarrassing. You can tell for the most part though that none of the supporting cast wanted to be there because they aren't even trying at all. The plot of the film is as simple as it gets. The Oogieloves have the collect the 5 magical balloons they've lost and get them back in time for this big party they are about to have. You can pretty much figure out the whole movie from just that one sentence. What ensues is some of the worst jokes i've ever heard in a film and a bunch of lame dance/musical numbers. Now the Oogieloves is being marketed as a "revolutionary interactive movie-going experience". However, there is nothing revolutionary or original about it. If you've seen Dora The Exploreor or anything show similar of that, then you've seen everything that Oogieloves has to offer. There is nothing new here to see, except the material being taken to a new low. The writing is some of the worst i've ever heard for a kids film with all of the jokes involving some sort of gross out gag or flatulence jokes. The musical numbers are also very bland and the songs are not catchy at all. However, I can't really say the film bored me because it just kept irritating me and making me more and more angry by how awful it was. The fact that this is what people are accepting for children's entertainment is shocking and is exactly why all kids entertainment these days sucks! Oh, and don't buy into the "Academy Award Nominated Director" crap either, Matthew Diamond was nominated for Best Documentary for a film that nobody saw. I really can't think of anything else to say about this film besides how awful it is. Please Parents, do not take your kids to see this film!

However, when her health starts improving, Martin fears losing her, so he begins tampering with her treatment, keeping Diane sick and in the hospital right next to him.
User Reviews :
The Good Doctor – TRASH IT (C+) The good doctor is about a young doctor getting obsessed with his teenage patient so much that he change her medicines to keep her longer in the hospital. The scenario is interesting how a young doctor feels disrespected, lonesome and misfit. The moment he finds some attention and affection from a patient he starts to reply on her and goes the extra lengths to keep her in front of his eyes. Orlando Bloom rarely does anything acting oriented since he made his fortune on his luck and good looks solely with Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings trilogy. So coming out of big blockbuster his movie to do this a good idea and I think he did a decent job and kept you engaged. Riley Keough is a fresh face and maybe at this time known being the granddaughter of Elvis Presley and future Mrs. Alex Pettyfer, she defiantly has the potential to go places if right role is provided. So far here and in her first movie The Runaways, she was impressive. The movie had interesting concept but towards the end it went very bleak and kind of trying too hard. So avoid it, not worth spending time.

User Reviews :
Had so much fun watching this movie with my best friend. We laughed, laughed, and laughed some more! It was a rom-com spoof using best friends instead of a romantic relationship. The chemistry between characters was so playful and realistic, the writing stayed consistently great throughout the movie (there was no dull middle), and the stars were fresh and candid. Love that this movie was written at a kitchen table, filmed within 16 days, and came out looking like a high budget film. Great writing and acting! Had so much fun meeting the director, starts, and writers after the film. It's so much fun supporting people who are relate able and down to earth.

User Reviews:
All in all a very impressing take on this well known fairy tale.
It's particular strong side is the visuals and the music. There are some stretches in the film where hardly anything is said, only images of the land and the haunting background music deliver the atmosphere and make everything seem very real. The FX match those of LoTR and Avatar, but they never get in the way of the experience, they only serve as a means to create the world the story plays in.
The acting was hardly less impressive. Especially Charlize Theron makes this movie one to remember for a long time. Never ever have I seen a more frightening, more convincing evil queen. She managed to show a complete being, not just a cliché from a fairy tale. She embodies the queen with all her desires, her motives, her strengths and her weaknesses. Theron even manages to make you care for her, because you can see her as just a human being with a *lot* of issues. Despite the fact that Theron made everyone else look a bit pale in comparison, they delivered their characters as good as the story allowed them too. Some were given too little time to develop, like the dwarfs and the huntsman.
I think a very modern aspect of the movie is that it emphasized the two strong female characters, and generally made woman run the whole show. Men on the other hand were only there to follow the lead of either Snow White or the Evil Queen. Of course this is part of the original tale, but as the recent "Mirror Mirror" showed it is not mandatory that this aspect is shown as the main theme of the story.
Another thing I like very much about this take on the story is that the characters motives are understandable. It's not just "this happens and then that happens and then another thing", as is the sad case with most Hollywood movies today. The story unfolds on its own, you can feel the driving force of the events, one thing actually leads to another and most of the time it makes sense why people do what the do or say what they say.
The only weaknesses I can find in Snow White and the Huntsman is that despite its considerable length, it feels at times rushed and incomplete, while other scenes (especially the "emotional speeches") just feel stretched unnecessarily. The story could have easily filled two 2h-movies. Important characters are introduced and immediately play their part, without much development or getting-to-know-time. The ending left me (and my girlfriend) a bit unsatisfied. All the build-up ends rather quickly and left us wondering about many things. But this is criticizing on a high level.
This is one of the best movies I've seen in a very long time. It's amazing what good screen writing, a none-clichéd music score and a few good actors can accomplish with a plot as well known as this one.

When young Timothy shows up on their doorstep one stormy night, Cindy and Jim-and their small town of Stanleyville-learn that sometimes the unexpected can bring some of life's greatest gifts.
User Reviews  :
Disney has a rich history with animated films, but they also manage to deliver touching original live action films. Their latest The Odd Life of Timothy Green takes on an interesting subject with a bit of fantasy blended with a family drama. With a decent cast including Jennifer Garner, Joel Edgerton, Ron Livingston, and Dianne Wiest will they be able to deliver an entertaining movie that will speak to the audience or end up needing to be planted back in the garden? The Odd Life of Timothy Green follows a married couple who are dying to start a family, but when things just aren't working out they began to dream about what their child would be like. After a stormy night a young boy named Timothy shows up and changes the couple and their small town in unexpected ways. This is one of those movies that as a whole work really well telling the story in an effective entertaining way. Everyone gave decent performances but nothing really stood out other than Timothy himself CJ Adams who brings a needed innocence to the character that really comes off very well. If his performance didn't work then this movie would not have worked at all. Thanks to his ability to bring this character to life while delivering all the various emotions to bring the rest of the story in cast together. The story is original, cute, and enduring but still was missing a little something. It starts out a bit slow and drawn out taking a little more time than needed to get to the point, but still works for the most part. For the rest of the movie you are fairly entertained and intrigued on where they are taking the story, but then becomes a bit predictable. While this never really hurts the film, the lack of real resolve to the primary part of the story you sit through really loses you at the end. With that being said the majority of this film works really well.

This is a rare film that not only tells a heartwarming story filled with a wide range of emotions and sensitivities. This is a funny film wrapped in an emotional drama, with a touch of fantasy that delivers an original film in an age filled with remakes and sequels. If you're looking for something new for the family give Timothy Green a try.

User Reviews:
A slightly-over-middle-age couple finds themselves in more than a rut, post-post empty nest. What to do?

An overly-simplified plot outline for a lovely, sweet, funny, sad, quiet movie that allows the cast's acting talents to shine. A great script with spot-on character development. None of your over-dramatics here.

We all know about Meryl Streep & Tommy Lee Jones, but even they deliver some newness. But Steve Carell gives us a nuanced performance without the smallest hint of shtick. Notice Elisabeth Shue in a small part that delivers big. As well as Jean Smart & Mimi Rogers.
